Retro Player — Privacy Policy

We do not collect personal information. Your music, your playlist and the categories you tag tracks with stay on your device. We have no servers that receive anything from the app, and there are no ads, no analytics and no third-party trackers in it.
Access to the music on your device. Retro Player asks for permission to read audio files, because finding music you have not pointed it at is what the app does. That permission is used for one thing: listing the audio files on the device so you can choose which of them to add. The list never leaves your phone. You can refuse the permission and still use the app — the playlist’s FILES button opens the system file picker, which needs no permission at all and builds a complete playlist.
The app never records audio. It does not ask for microphone permission and cannot. The spectrum analyser reads the music the app is itself playing, from inside the app, which is why the microphone indicator never lights up while you use it.
Notifications. Permission to post notifications is optional. It is used only for the playback notification and the lock screen controls. Refusing it costs those and costs playback nothing.
Internet. The app goes online only when you ask it to, by adding an internet radio station yourself. It connects to the address you typed and to nothing else. There is no station directory, no recommendation service and no account.
Donations. Donating is entirely optional and unlocks nothing — every feature works the same whether you donate or not. Payments are handled by Google Play. We never see or store your payment details, and you can cancel a recurring donation at any time in the Play Store.
No crash reporting. The app contains no crash reporting or diagnostics SDK. If it crashes, nothing is sent to us. Google Play separately collects anonymous crash and performance statistics for apps installed from Play, which is outside the app and outside our control.
No analytics. We do not measure which features you use, what you listen to, how long you spend in the app, or whether you looked at the donation options.
Backup. Android’s automatic backup is switched off for this app, so your library and playlist are not copied to Google’s servers.
Children. The app is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone, of any age.
Changes. If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
